Krewe Rugby vs Pelican RFC

The Pelicans’ 2018-19 season opener was a 59 to 5 victory over Krewe Rugby at Tampa’s Skyview Park.  The scoring started right away for the Pelicans, with fly-half, Jethro scoring a couple tries early in the first half.  Jethro would prove to be key throughout the game finishing the day with 4 tries.  Pelican’s flanker and skipper, Scotty led from the front with a hat-trick. But as things got heated at the beginning of the second half James, inside center, was issued a yellow card, and Pelican’s newcomer Jakobi at outside center took over conversion duty.  AJ at wing and Calvin at scrum-half each picked up a try before day’s end. For his outstanding passes and pick-up-and-goes, Calvin was voted Man of the Match.

The Pelicans supporters and Old Boys who traveled across the bay were all sharing cheers as they got to watch the Pelicans kickoff the season in a memorable fashion. Next match for Pelicans will be at home against Sarasota Surge RC on February 2nd, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
